![]() ![]() I played everything solo and everything seemed kind of hyper aggressive as opposed to past games. It seemed like an outlast/dead by daylight fusion to me kinda. It was a great experience that wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I had a great time with the beta, played through level one on easy and then went back for normal but didn't finish it due to having to leave for something while getting the generators running. Running and hiding from enemies works in a single-player game, but not so much in a multiplayer game. Overall, it wasn't bad, but not good enough for me to buy on release. Oh, and did I mention the repeated use of jump scares? Once you've picked up on all the little "tricks" that the developers use to try to scary you, you just start rolling your eyes at the 15th time that an enemy leaps out at you from a locker. It's far too reliant on the gore factor, which ain't that scary to begin with, as well as blurring your vision and moving the FOV in and out to try to disorient you, which also isn't scary either. This is mainly due to the fact that you're playing alongside 3 other players, so knowing that you're not alone certainly relieves a lot of the tension, but's that's not all. At this point I'm more inclined to pick up Darktide on release, and wait for this to go on sale.Īnother issue is that it's really not scary at all. It's not bad, but compared to the WH40K Darktide beta that I also played recently, it feels really lacking. At its core, gameplay-wise, it's basically what would happen if someone took Alien: Isolation and made a multiplayer co-op game out of it. ![]()
